Eye-in-sky SPD Predator drones stir privacy concerns

The Federal Aviation Administration's very quiet approval of a license for the Seattle Police Department to operate unmanned armed aerial drones should spark debate about privacy, public safety, public policy and the use of technology to control citizens in law enforcement, according to the ACLU.
SPD Chief Diaz and Seattle Mayor  McGinn refused to comment.
The department is among dozens of law-enforcement agencies, academic institutions and other agencies that were recently given approval by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to use armed unmanned aerial vehicles, more commonly known as drones. Typically drones are remotely employed for covert surveillance of populations and as a platform for missiles and high-output automatic weapons.
